STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Three third-period goals sent the top-seeded UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team to a 5-3 win over UW-Superior and a spot in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship game on Saturday night at K.B. Willett Arena.

Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) helped the Pointers to the come-from-behind win.
UWSP will host the second-ever WIAC Championship game for the Commissioner's Cup on Saturday, March 7 at K.B. Willett Arena at a time yet to be determined. The Pointers will face UW-River Falls in the title game after the Falcons squeaked by UW-Eau Claire on a penalty shot in sudden-death overtime following a series split and a mini-game.
With UW-Stevens Point trailing 3-2, Cornellier knotted the score at 3-3 with 9:57 to play with the third game-tying goal of the night for UWSP, which trailed 1-0 and 2-1 in the first period. The goal was Cornellier's 10th of the season.
The score stayed tied until
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) scored on the power play at 15:28 of the third after being set up by
Joe Kalisz (Davison, MI/Davison) and
Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) for the game-winning goal. Henegar added the team's fifth goal from Cornellier, who earned his third point of the game, with 1:19 remaining.
Tanner Dion started a four-goal first-period, scoring the opener at 3:13. The Pointers answered back through
Garrett Ladd (Fenton, MI/Fenton) a little over three minutes later.
Less than a minute after Ladd's goal, the Yellowjackets' Jordan Neduzak struck on the power play at 7:08.
Kyle Brodie (Denver, CO/Northglenn) tied the game at 2-2 exactly two minutes later with an unassisted goal.
UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Superior 33-28 in the game, including 11-5 in the first period. The Yellowjackets were 2-for-3 on the power play, while the Pointers were 1-for-2 with the man advantage.
