With 19 seconds left and UW-Stevens Point (7-3-1, 1-1-0 WIAC) up a goal, Cornellier completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal to bring his season total to a season-high nine goals. The Pointers had trailed UW-Superior (3-6-2, 0-2-0 WIAC) by 2-1 and 3-2 scores but scored the last three goals to pick up the win.

Trailing 3-2 in the final two minutes of the second period, Cornellier brought the Pointers even with his second goal of the night at 19:23. Jono Davis (La Verne, CA) then put home a rebound from a Joe Kalisz (Davison, MI/Davison) shot at 5:43 of the third for his first official UWSP goal to give UW-Stevens Point the lead with the eventual game-winning goal.
