RIVER FALLS, Wis. - UW-River Falls scored twice in the third period to defeat the sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team 3-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener for both teams at Hunt Arena on Friday evening.

Trailing 2-1 midway through the third, UW-Stevens Point (6-3-1, 0-1-0 WIAC) tied the game on the first goal in the UWSP career of
Nathan Harris (Fowlerville, MI) at 10:32. However, Christian George scored just 21 seconds later to give UW-River Falls (4-4-1) a 3-2 lead they held onto.

After a scoreless first period, Jeff Bergh opened the scoring, netting a power-play goal 13:19 into the second period to give UWRF a 1-0 advantage.

With 13 seconds remaining in the second,
Joe Kalisz (Davison, MI/Davison) put a backhanded shot past UWRF goaltender Tanner Milliron to even the game at 1-1 heading into the final period of play. Kalisz's goal was his team-high seventh of the season and was his 13th point in 10 games.

Just 5:06 into the third period, Zach Schrotenboer gave UWRF a 3-2 lead, before Harris' goal. Harris hit the pipe shortly after George's eventual game-winning goal.

Sophomore goaltender
Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 28 saves for the Pointers, while Milliron made 27. UWRF outshot UWSP 31-29 in the game.

Both teams took advantage of the extra skater, as UW-Stevens Point went 1-for-5 and UW-River Falls was 1-for-4 on the power play.
