STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Kaitlin Langer had 18 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocked shots as No. 18 St. Thomas outlasted the UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team 51-48 on Sunday afternoon at Berg Gym.

Langer then hit two free throws to make it a three-point UST lead once again and Langer recorded her ninth block of the afternoon on the final UWSP possession. The Pointers and Tommies were meeting for the sixth consecutive season and five of the six games have been decided by eight points or less.
Neither team led by more than six points at any point in the game but St. Thomas took its largest lead, 41-36, with 5:54 to go in the fourth quarter after Zehrer found Langer for a layup. Gamillo then scored eight of her team-high 11 points, including a pair of three-pointers, in the final 4:08 to set up the tight finish.
Katie Stone joined Langer in double figures with 12 points, six of which came at the charity stripe. Zehrer added eight points.
UW-Stevens Point's 28-22 lead with 7:45 remaining in the third quarter was the largest lead of the game for either team but St. Thomas closed the quarter on a 13-4 run to take a 35-32 lead into the final 10 minutes. The Tommies held the Pointers to two field goals and seven points in the third quarter.
The Pointers led 7-2 early after three consecutive made shots and four-straight misses by the Tommies. St. Thomas took its only lead of the first quarter in the final 30 seconds and took a 13-12 lead after the first 10 minutes on a buzzer-beating jumper by Mykenzie Spaulding.
The Tommies took their largest lead of the first half after Spaulding scored the first basket of the second quarter but the Pointers came back with a 7-0 run to go ahead 19-15.
Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) had five points during the run and scored all eight of her points in the first half.
St. Thomas shot 38.1 percent (16-for-42) in the game, while UW-Stevens Point shot at a 30.2 percent (19-for-63) clip. The Tommies shot 18-for-22 (81.8 percent) from the free-throw line, compared to 6-for-13 (46.2 percent) for the Pointers.
The UWSP bench outscored the UST reserves 17-6 in the game, led by Gamillo's 11. UW-Stevens Point's defense also forced 20 turnovers in the game and the Pointers corralled 22 offensive rebounds.
UW-Stevens Point plays at Carthage on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. in Kenosha.
