STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Despite scoring two goals in the third period, the second-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 5-2 to eighth-ranked St. Norbert on Saturday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.

St. Norbert College (7-1-1) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period scoring two goals just 3:29apart from Ross Pavek and Riley Christensen. The Green Knights went on to score the game's first four goals before UW-Stevens Point (6-1-1) scored twice in the third period.
In the second period, Roman Uchyn would increase the Green Knights' to three, scoring 2:47 seconds into the second frame. Blake Thompson would give St. Norbert a four-goal lead heading into the final period, scoring a power-play goal at the 10:35 mark.
Jacob Barber (Dardenne Prairie, MO) got UW-Stevens Point on the board by scoring his first goal of the season on the power-play with an assist from Trace Strahle (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service)6:32 into the final period. Just 31 seconds later, Noah Nelson gave the Green Knights an insurance goal to go up 5-1.
With just under six minutes to play, Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) scored a shorthanded goal off a feed from Barberto cut the lead to 5-2. The Pointers were unable to score with the extra attacker in the last 2:54 of the game.
Jesse Gordichuk (Penticton, BC) made a career-high 30 saves including 17 in the first period for the Pointers. St. Norbert goaltender Tony Kujava made 18 stops in the win. St. Norbert outshot UW-Stevens Point35-20 in the game.
UWSP will travel to Michigan to take on No. 7 Adrian on Saturday, Nov. 28th at 6 p.m. CST and the United States National Development Program U-18 team in Ann Arbor on Sunday, Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. CST.
