Evan Dixon (Novi, MI) scored a late third-period goal to help the second-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team force a 3-3 tie with Marian on Friday evening at K.B. Willett Arena.

With just 4:10 remaining in the third period, Dixon put a shot under the glove of Marian (2-3-2) goaltender Mike Baldwin to force overtime. Dixon's third goal of the season was assisted by
Logan Lemirande (Janesville, WI) and
Nathan Harris (Fowlerville, MI). With the tie, UW-Stevens Point (6-0-1) remains unbeaten on the season.

The Pointers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Lawerence Cornellier found
Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas)'s pass to net his fourth goal of the season. With just 13 seconds remaining in the first period, Marian's Scott Milnthorp would find the equalizer.

In the second period, Marian would get two unanswered goals, including a power-play goal from Gianni Mangone to give the Sabres a 3-1 lead with 8:34 remaining in the period.

Alex Brooks (Grand Rapids, MI) would cut the deficit to one just 39 seconds later on an unassisted goal, before Dixon would tie the game.

Goaltender
Max Milosek (Lapeer, MI) made 25 saves, including five in the overtime period. Baldwin matched a season-high with 31 saves for Marian. The Pointers outshot the Sabres 34-28 in the game.

The Pointers will return to action to take on No. 8/9 St. Norbert on Saturday, Nov. 21 at K.B. Willett Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Furniture and Appliance Mart TV Giveaway night.
