UW-Stevens Point (7-6, 2-2 WIAC) trailed by one, 45-44, with 9:57 remaining but UW-Platteville (10-4, 3-2 WIAC) held the Pointers to two points over the next 6:02 to open up a nine-point lead that the hosts would not relinquish. Down 61-53 with 1:24 remaining, UWSP climbed to within four following four points from Jamie Destache (Sussex, WI/Sussex-Hamilton) in a three-second span. After the Pioneers split a pair of free throws, two more free throws by Destache made UWP's lead 62-59 with one minute remaining but that was as close as the Pointers would get.

Destache finished with a season-high 12 points on 3-for-5 from the field and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Allie Miceli (Marseilles, IL/Ottawa Township) came off the bench to record the first double-double of her UW-Stevens Point career, scoring 12 points and adding a career-best 13 rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end.

The Pointers' bench accounted for 45 of the team's 61 points, led by Destache and Miceli. UW-Stevens Point shot 37.5 percent for the game, while UW-Platteville shot at a 36.7 percent clip. The Pioneers held a 14-1 advantage in points off turnovers, forcing 18 UWSP turnovers in the game.

UW-Stevens Point trailed by five early in the second half but used a 9-2 run to take a 42-40 lead with 13:42 following a three-pointer by Lauren Anklam (Ringle, WI/D.C. Everest) and a layup by Sarah Gamillo (Colby, WI/Colby). Later, a jumper by Lexi Roland (New London, WI/New London) gave UWSP a 44-41 lead with 13:02 to go before UW-Platteville began to pull away.
