Bollinger tallies two points, women's hockey downs Blugolds 4-1

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie) led the No. 9 UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over visiting UW-Eau Claire with a goal and an assist on Saturday afternoon at Ice Hawks Arena.

Bollinger entered the game with six points on the season but registered her second two-point game in the last four games for UW-Stevens Point (13-6-2, 4-3-2 WIAC). The Pointers were outshot by UW-Eau Claire (5-16-1, 1-6-1 WIAC) 30-24 in the game but got a 29-save performance from Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East), who moved to 12-6-2 on the season.
 
UWSP is now 39-6-3 all-time against UWEC and the Pointers are unbeaten in the last 10 meetings (8-2-0).
 
Megan Menotti (Vernon Hills, IL/Chicago Mission) opened the scoring 4:57 into the game with her eighth goal of the season, the most of any defensemen in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Meredith Ingbretson (Hayward, WI/Hayward) set up the goal for her 11th point in the last 11 games.
 
Before the period was over, the Pointers doubled their advantage when Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) scored her 11th of the season from Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) on the power play.
 
The score remained 2-0 in favor of UWSP until midway through the second period when Bollinger found Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) for the senior's first goal of the season at 10:17. Bollinger then gave the Pointers a 4-0 lead 1:11 into the third period, scoring for the fifth time this season.
 
UW-Eau Claire got an unassisted goal from Claudia Gagnon at 7:20 of the third period to close out the scoring and get on the board. Kim Van Brunt made 20 saves in the loss for the Blugolds.
 
The Pointers and Blugolds close out their season series in Eau Claire on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.
