STEVENS POINT, Wis. –
Kat Nejedlo (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) had the first two-goal game of her career and
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made a career-high 48 saves as the seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team topped visiting St. Norbert 5-2 on Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena.

Photo Gallery Nejedlo scored the eventual game-winning goal late in the first period, which saw UW-Stevens Point (9-3-1) and St. Norbert (6-5-1) combine for six goals. Beilke-Skoug made at least 13 saves in each period to eclipse her previous career-best 45 saves at UW-River Falls on Jan. 24, 2014.
After St. Norbert went ahead at 7:29 of the first period on a goal by Reaghan Chadwick, the Pointers came right back with a goal by
Lexi Englund (White Bear Lake, MN/White Bear Lake), her third of the season, just 13 seconds later.
Nearly five minutes later,
Meredith Ingbretson (Hayward, WI/Hayward) scored for the second-straight game to give UW-Stevens Point a 2-1 lead.
Rachel Reynard (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) earned her second assist of the night and Englund also picked up a helper on the goal.
Still in the first period, Chadwick power-play goal tied the score at 2-2 at 15:04 but 3:03 later, Nejedlo scored an unassisted goal to give UWSP the lead again. With just two seconds left in the opening period, Reynard completed the second three-point game of her career with a goal from
Ellie Punnett (Hailey, ID/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) and
Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie).
Beilke-Skoug made 21 saves in the first period and kept the Green Knights off the scoreboard after that. Nejedlo's power-play goal at 14:09 of the second period completed the scoring, with assists credited to
Betsy Anderson (Farmington, MN/Farmington) and
Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater).
St. Norbert's Leigh Grall made 20 saves in the loss, as the visitors doubled-up the Pointers in shots, 50-25. SNC was 1-for-3 on the power play, while UWSP was 1-for-4. The five-goal game was the third of the season for UW-Stevens Point and the first since the Pointers defeated St. Olaf 7-1 and 5-1 in the first series of the season.
The two teams complete the home-and-home series on Saturday, Jan. 3 at 4 p.m. in De Pere, Wis.
