Four players score for women's soccer in win at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – Four different players scored as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team matched its season-high with four goals in a 4-1 win over St. Norbert on Sunday afternoon.

Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown), Kelsey Schneider (Malone, WI/Fond du Lac), Kim Gietman (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) and Jillian Ross (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) each scored once for UW-Stevens Poiint (4-6). St. Norbert (3-5) got a goal from Riana Smith late on.
It took the Pointers just 3:19 to open the scoring, as Meylor finished a one-on-one for her second goal of the season off an assist from Ross.

Twenty minutes later, Schneider doubled the UW-Stevens Point lead with her second goal of the season.

The Pointers made it 3-0 at 73:09 when Gietman scored for the first time this season, finishing off a rebound off the crossbar. Carli Demski (Waukesha, WI/West) earned an assist on Gietman's goal.

After Smith made it 3-1 with just over four minutes remaining, Ross finished off the scoring with a lob over the goalkeeper from a pass by Mary-Kate Schiffer (Palatine, IL/William Fremd). The goal was Ross' team-leading fourth of the season.

The Pointers outshot the Green Knights 16-12 in the game. Sarah Platzer took the loss despite making eight saves for St. Norbert. Morgan Voigt (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) picked up her third win of the season, making four saves in the process.

UW-Stevens Point hosts UW-Platteville for its first home Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match of the season on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
