Box Score MENOMONIE, Wis. – The third-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team fell behind 3-0 in the second period and fell 4-2 to UW-Stout on Saturday night at Dunn Country Ice Arena.

The Pointers (16-3-2, 4-3-1 WIAC) were held scoreless for the first two periods as the Blue Devils (7-14, 3-5 WIAC) built a three-goal lead. The loss was the second time UW-Stevens Point has been defeated by UW-Stout this season.
Trailing 3-0 after two periods, UW-Stevens Point got goals from
Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/) and
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) in the third period but could not get closer than two goals.
Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/)'s sixth goal of the season made it 3-1 and
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North)'s power-play goal with two and a half minutes left cut it to 4-2.
Dixon's goal was assisted by Gibson and
Max Bobrow (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa). Gibson's late goal was also his sixth of the season and gives the defenseman points in eight straight games.
UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Stout 37-34 in the game but could not convert on three second-period power play opportunities. The Pointers were 1-for-5 on the power play in the game.
UWSP returns to K.B. Willett Arena next Friday and Saturday, February 14-15, for a series against No. 4/5 UW-Eau Claire. The Pointers defeated the Blugolds, the defending national champions, 4-1 in Eau Claire on Dec. 6.
