ST. PETER, Minn. – Fifth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus scored three third-period goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat the seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Don Roberts Ice Rink.
Box ScoreMeredith Ingbretson (Hayward, WI/Hayward) gave UW-Stevens Point (8-3-1) the lead less than one minute into the game with her first goal of the season.
Betsy Anderson (Farmington, MN/Farmington) and
Rachel Reynard (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) picked up assists on Ingbretson's opener 49 seconds into the game.
The score remained 1-0 until Gustavus Adolphus (8-1-2) struck three times in the final period. Allison Eder-Zdechlik tied the score at 1-1 at 8:46 of the third period with an unassisted goal.
With 2:16 remaining, Emily Reibert gave the Gusties the lead with the game-winning goal off an assist from Lydia Wagner. Reibert's goal came on Gustavus Adolphus/ eighth power-play opportunity of the game.
Eder-Zdechlik added an empty-net goal with 14 seconds remaining for her sixth goal in seven games this season. The Gusties held a 42-16 advantage in shots on goal in the game.
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made a season-high 39 saves in the loss, while Lindsey Hibbard stopped 15 shots for the Gusties.
All three UWSP losses this season have come to teams ranked in the top 10 by D3hockey.com.
UW-Stevens Point is off until the New Year, when the Pointers will face St. Norbert in a split series the weekend of Jan. 2-3. The Pointers and Green Knights play at Ice Hawks Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday and at 4 p.m. the next day in De Pere.
