Lester, Nejedlo send Pointers to 3-1 win over Cobbers

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Forwards Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and Katherine Nejedlo (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) each had their third consecutive multi-point game to start the season as the sixth-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team topped Concordia-Moorhead in non-conference action on Friday night at Ice Hawks Arena.

Lester had a goal and an assist in the game for UW-Stevens Point (3-0-0), giving her five goals and three assists through three games this season. Nejedlo had two assists to bring her team-high tally to five on the season, in addition to one goal.
 
Lexi Englund (White Bear Lake, MN/White Bear Lake) opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal at 12:06 of the first period. Lester assisted Englund's opener.
 
The Pointers scored twice in the second period to build a 3-1 lead. Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) scored from Betsy Anderson (Farmington, MN/Farmington) and Nejedlo at 3:09 of the second before Nejedlo found Lester for UWSP's third five minutes later.
 
Tori Davis scored the lone goal of the game for Concordia-Moorhead (0-1-0) midway through the third period.
 
UW-Stevens Point outshot Concordia-Moorhead 23-9 over the first two periods. The Cobbers took 12 third-period shots compared to two for the Pointers.
 
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) kept out 20 shots in her third win of the season for UW-Stevens Point. Her counterpart Andrea Klug made 22 saves in the loss for Concordia-Moorhead.
 
The win preserves the Pointers' unbeaten mark all-time against the Cobbers (7-0-1).
 
The two teams complete a weekend series on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 2:30 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
