@UWSPWhockey drops weekend series finale to Superior, 3-1

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) gave the Pointers an early 1-0 lead on Saturday, but the Yellowjackets scored three unanswered to down the Pointers 3-1 at Wessman Arena in the weekend series finale.

Biagini scored her sixth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead, just seven minutes into the game, as Kat Nejedlo (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) and Betsy Anderson (Farmington, MN/Farmington) assisted on the score.

The Yellowjackets evened the score with three minutes remaining in the opening period when Kiara De Kezel pushed a goal past Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East).

Superior scored the go-ahead goal just 1:46 into the second period, capitalizing on the power play opportunity. The 'Jackets added another power play score just two minutes into the third so extend the lead to 3-1 and the jackets held off the Pointers for the victory.

UW-Stevens Point finished the day 0-6 on the power play while Superior was 2-4.

Beilke-Skoug finished the day with 21 saves while Superior goaltend3er Megan Leikkari stopped 52 of the Pointers 53 shots on target.

No. 5 UW-Stevens Point (6-2)  returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 25 with a nonconference contest at home against Marian University (Wis.). Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Ice Hawks Arena.
