STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Five different Pointers tallied goals on Friday night as the fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team skated to a 5-1 win over Lake Forest College at K.B. Willett Arena.
Box ScoreJoe Kalisz (Davison, MI/Davison) got the Pointers scoring started late in the first period when he lit the lamp off assists from
Drew Graves (Allen Park, MI/Allen Park ) and
Nick D'Avolio (North Riverside, IL).
In the second, the Pointers tallied a pair of goals, one by
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North) and the other by
Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas), and Lake Forest tallied its first of the game to make the score 3-1 after two.
Late in the third the Pointers broke open the late in the period, as
Trace Strahle (Anchorage, AK/Robert Service) and D'Avolio tallied scores in the game's final 1:01 as the Pointers notched the 5-1 victory.
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) earned the win in goal for the Pointers, tallying 27 saves in net. Leo Podolsky suffered the loss for Lake Forest, recording 39 of 44 UWSP shots on target.
UW-Stevens Point (5-1-0) takes to the ice at Willett Arena on Saturday night as it hosts Adrian College. Action is set for a 7 p.m. start on annual Skate with the Pointers night. Fans are invited onto the ice after the game to skate with the Pointer players.
