Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Biagini scores twice but Falcons top women's hockey

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – No. 7 UW-Stevens Point jumped out to a 2-0 lead against No. 5 UW-River Falls on Friday evening, but the Falcons scored three unanswered goals to record the 3-2 victory over the Pointers at Hunt Arena in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener for both teams on Friday night at Hunt Arena.

Box Score

Ali Biagini (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater) got the scoring started for the Pointers late in the first period, scoring her third goal of the young season off an Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) assist.

Biagini put the Pointers in front 2-0 midway through the second, this time off a pass from Lexi Englund (White Bear Lake, MN/White Bear Lake).

The Falcons responded a minute later with their first goal of the game, as Karleigh Wolkerstorfer tallied her first goal of the season. Dani Kocina registered her third goal of the season, on the power play, tying the score at 2-2 after two.

In the third, River Falls' Amy Auran pushed past the eventual game-winner at the 9:15 mark of the period, putting the Falcons in front 3-2.

A late flurry from the Pointers and an extra attacker on for the final 43 seconds was not enough, as the Pointers fell to the Falcons.

Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) tallied 26 saves in net for the Pointers, while River Falls' Angie Hall tallied nine of her 11 saves in the final two periods to earn the victory.

The Pointers (4-1, 0-1 WIAC) and Falcons (3-1, 1-0 WIAC) return to the ice for the final game of their two-game series Saturday, Nov. 15. Action gets underway at 2:05 p.m.
