NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Five different players scored as the seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team completed a weekend sweep of St. Olaf with a 5-1 win over the Oles on Saturday afternoon at Northfield Ice Arena.
Box Score Emily Lester (Eau Claire, WI/Memorial) and Kat Nejedlo each had a goal and an assist, while
Meredith Ingbretson (Hayward, WI/Hayward) tallied two helpers for UW-Stevens Point (2-0-0). Devyn Hotho scored the lone goal of the game for St. Olaf (0-2-0).
Shauna Bollinger (Menomonie, WI/Menomonie) opened the scoring midway through the first period with her second goal of the weekend off Ingbretson's first assist of the night.
The Pointers scored three second-period goals to take a commanding 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of play. Nejedlo opened her account for the season with an unassisted goal at 4:16 of the second period before
Megan Menotti (Vernon Hills, IL/Chicago Mission) and
Rachel Reynard (Hortonville, WI/Hortonville) tallied goals.
After Hotho's goal early in the third period, Lester scored the game's final goal, her fourth goal and sixth point of the weekend, while shorthanded. Nejedlo assisted Lester's shorthanded goal.
UW-Stevens Point outshot St. Olaf 39-26 in the game.
Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison, WI/East) made 25 wins in her second victory of the season. Hailey Sampson made 23 saves in two periods for St. Olaf before being replaced by Sam Ubl, who made 11 third-period stops.
The Pointers take on another Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe as they host Concordia-Moorhead on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8 at Ice Hawks Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. on Friday night and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
