STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Eight different players scored as the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team stretched its winning streak to four matches with an 11-0 victory over Finlandia University on Sunday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl.
Box Score UW-Stevens Point (6-6) scored seven goals in the first half and four more in the second and tallied 50 shots, compared to none for Finlandia (3-8).
Sarah Vitale (River Falls, WI/River Falls) opened the scoring just 1:33 into the contest and the Pointers scored four goals in a little over nine minutes in the first half.
Maggie Koplin (Homer, AK/Homer) and
Emily Dietrich (Franklin, WI/Muskego) each scored twice in the stretch after
Sarah Meylor (Watertown, WI/Watertown) had made it 2-0.
A goal from
Morgan Voigt (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) capped the first-half scoring 40 seconds before halftime. In the second half,
Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) set up a goal by
Bridget Walker (Madison, WI/Edgewood) before scoring two goals of her own in the span of 1:43.
Shelley Samuel (Fond du Lac, WI/Fond du Lac) scored the final goal of the game from the penalty spot. Twelve players had either a goal or and an assist in the game for UWSP.
Voigt and Churkey each played a half in goal but neither had a save to make. Adrianna Osuna made 15 saves for the Lions.
The Pointers return to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Saturday, Oct. 11 at UW-Eau Claire (3-7-1, 1-2 WIAC) at 2 p.m.
