Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer falls 1-0 to UW-River Falls

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Carrie Anderson scored the lone goal of the game as visiting UW-River Falls defeated the UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team 1-0 in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match on Saturday afternoon at Point Soccer Bowl.

Box Score

Anderson cut in from the left wing and hit a shot into the lower left corner for her fifth goal of the season at the 50:48 mark for UW-River Falls (10-4-3, 3-2-1 WIAC). UW-Stevens Point (7-8-1, 2-3-1 WIAC) outshot the Falcons 16-5 in the game.

The Pointers had two great scoring chances in the first half but UWRF goalkeeper Erica Cimochowski made two point-blank saves to deny Kara Herr (Schafer, MN/Chisago Lakes) and Kelsey Schneider (Malone, WI/Fond du Lac).

In the 32nd minute, Herr got on the end of a cross from the right wing and redirected it straight at Cimochowski for one of Herr's game-high three shots on goal. Three minutes later, Schneider was in behind the Falcons defense but Cimochowski came out and smothered her shot.

Kristen Churkey (Mosinee, WI/D.C. Everest) made two saves in net for UW-Stevens Point, while Cimochowski kept out eight shots for UW-River Falls.

The Pointers travel to Oshkosh to take on the Titans on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
