Pointers, Eagles play to scoreless tie

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with UW-La Crosse on Wednesday afternoon at the Point Soccer Bowl.

UW-Stevens Point (6-7-1, 1-2-1 WIAC) outshot UW-La Crosse (3-4-5, 1-1-3) by a 21-5 margin in the game but neither team was able to make a breakthrough after 110 minutes of play.
 
Morgan Voigt (Rhinelander, WI/Rhinelander) earned her third shutout in four starts this season to extend her unbeaten record (3-0-1) in net. Voigt made three saves in the game, including a diving save to keep out a shot by Tina Bedwell in the 28th minute.
 
The Pointers came the closest to breaking the deadlock late in the first half after a free kick by Delaney Boelter (Keshena, WI/Shawano Community) hit the crossbar. Kelsey Schneider (Malone, WI/Fond du Lac) was there for the rebound but her shot was blocked by the Eagles' defense.
 
Ashley Tracy made 10 saves for UW-La Crosse including three in the second overtime. The Pointers had 15 shots in regulation, compared to just two for the Eagles.
 
UW-Stevens Point makes the trip to Superior to face the Yellowjackets (3-9-2, 0-4-0 WIAC) on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11:30 a.m.
