Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The third-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team skated to a 4-4 tie with visiting UW-Superior in a seesaw Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) matchup on Friday night at K.B. Willett Arena.

The Pointers (13-2-2, 2-2-1 WIAC) led 2-0 in the first minute of the second period but the Yellowjackets (6-9-3, 1-2-2 WIAC) scored three consecutive goals to take a 3-2 lead in the final minute of the second period. UWSP then outscored Superior 2-1 in the third to force overtime but neither team could manage a winning goal in the extra session.

Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) opened the scoring in the first period,
Kyle Brodie (Denver, CO/Northglenn) outskated a Yellowjackets defender and unleashed a shot to the top corner at the 43-second mark of the second period to make it 2-0.
Michael Rey, Pat Dalbec and Jeff Forsythe scored second-period goals for UW-Superior to put the visitors on top. Forsythe, Dalbec and Rey each had multi-point games for the Yellowjackets.
At 8:50 of the third period, the Pointers got a five-minute power play and cashed in just three seconds into the man advantage on a goal by
Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) after
Garrett Ladd (Fenton, MI/Fenton) won a face-off in the UW-Superior end.
Less than a minute later, the Yellowjackets scored a short-handed goal as Joey Massingham got in behind the Pointers power-play unit, giving UW-Superior the lead again, 4-3.
Kevin Gibson (Grosse Pointe, MI/North)'s power-play goal, his fourth-straight game with a point, at 12:29 accounted for the final score.
UW-Stevens Point outshot UW-Superior 36-29 in the game, including 8-4 in the third period. No Pointers player had more than one point, as four different players scored and five skaters recorded an assist.
UWSP was 2-for-8 on the power play, while UW-Superior was 1-for-4. The Yellowjackets took four penalties in the third period, including the five-minute major.
Dayn Belfour made 32 saves for UW-Superior, while
Spencer Viele (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) made 25 for UW-Stevens Point in his third start of the season.
The four goals scored by UW-Superior is the third time an opponent has scored four times against UW-Stevens Point and the first since a 6-4 win at St. Mary's on Nov. 16. The Pointers have scored four or more goals in 11 of 17 games this season.
The two teams complete the weekend series on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena. Fans are reminded to wear white for a whiteout and the first 600 fans will receive a white t-shirt courtesy of Polito's and Eastbay.
