Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The second-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team built a 5-0 lead over the first two periods and got goals from six different players in a 7-2 non-conference win over Lawrence University on Friday night at K. B. Willett Arena.

Nick D'Avolio (North Riverside, IL/) got the scoring started for the Pointers (12-1) just 1:52 into the game.
Garrett Ladd (Fenton, MI/Fenton) and
Kyle Heck (Plover, WI/SPASH) scored two minutes apart in the final five minutes of the opening period to give UWSP a 3-0 lead over the Vikings (4-9-1). Ladd's goal was his team-leading 13th of the season in 13 games, while D'Avolio and Heck each scored for the sixth time.
UW-Stevens Point could have scored more than three in the first period but hit the post three times. However, UWSP stretched its lead to 5-0 after two periods of play with goals by
Kyle Brodie (Denver, CO/Northglenn) and
Max Bobrow (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) in the final ten minutes of the second period.
Lawrence made it a 5-2 game by scoring the first two goals of the third period on goals by Blake Roubos and Huck Saunders. The Pointers responded with two goals of their own in the third, as
Kyle Sharkey (Moore, OK/Insight School of Kansas) scored the sixth and Bobrow added his second of the game just 12 seconds later.
Defensemen
Tyler Krueger (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) and
Sean Gammage (Wildwood, MO/) each assisted on Bobrow's second goal and combined for five assists in the game.
Drew Graves (Allen Park, MI/Allen Park ) also chipped in with a pair of assists for the Pointers.
UW-Stevens Point outshot Lawrence 48-32 in the game. Vikings goalie Anton Olsson kept out 41 UWSP shots in the loss, while
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) made 30 saves for the Pointers. Neither team managed power-play goal, as the Pointers had four opportunities with the extra man and Lawrence had two.
The Pointers complete their weekend on Saturday night by hosting No. 4 St. Norbert at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans to K.B. Willett Arena will receive a giveaway courtesy of Marshfield Clinic.
