The story of the night for the first two periods was not UW-Stevens Point's offense, which leads the nation averaging 7.0 goals per game, it was senior netminder Josh Baker, who kept the Sabres deadlocked with the Pointers, despite being outshot 41-6 through two periods.
In the third, the Pointers finally broke through when Kalisz scored just over two minutes into the stanza. Kalisz gave the Pointers an insurance goal at the 13 minute mark, putting UWSP in front 2-0.
The Pointers held a 49-16 edge in total shots on net for the evening. UWSP's
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) earned the victory in net, stopping all 16 of Marian's shots on target.
UW-Stevens Point (8-0-0) returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6 when it heads west to face defending national champion UW-Eau Claire in a match-up set for a 7 p.m. start.
