Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The No. 13 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team scored three first-period goals on their way to a 6-1 season-opening non-conference win over Finlandia on Friday night at KB Willett Arena.

Garrett Ladd (Fenton, MI/Fenton) led the way with two goals for the Pointers (1-0-0).
Josh Daley (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin Catholic) and
Andrew Kolb (Toledo, OH/Toledo Catholic) each added a goal and an assist, as five different UWSP players scored. Richard Young's third-period goal was the lone goal for Finlandia (0-1-0).
Ladd,
Lawrence Cornellier (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) and Kolb all scored in the span of 4:36 in the first period to get the Pointers off and running. Kolb,
Evan Dixon (Novi, MI/) and Daley earned assists on the first-period goals. Cornellier's goal was the first of two short-handed goals for UWSP.
In the second period, UWSP stretched their lead to 5-0 thanks to goals from
Scott Henegar (Trenton, MI/Trenton) and Daley in the space of 3:01. Henegar's short-handed was assisted by
Kyle Politz (Apple Valley, MN/Apple Valley), while Daley's goal shortly after was unassisted.
After opening the scoring in the first, Ladd capped the scoring after Young's extra-man goal had made it 5-1.
Max Bobrow (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) earned an assist on Ladd's second tally.
The Pointers peppered Finlandia netminder Troy Chandler with 57 shots in the game, as Chandler made 51 saves. UWSP goalie
Brandon Jaeger (Champlin, MN/Champlin Park) kept out 11 Lions shots to earn the win.
The two teams complete the series on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at KB Willett Arena.
