Pointers Rebound with Monster Win

STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team got back on track Saturday evening as they cruised to a 74-43 victory against the UW-Superior Yellowjackets.

The Pointers jumped out to a 10 point lead before the Yellowjackets could get on the board and never looked back from there.

The Pointers defense stepped up in the first half, holding the Yellowjackets to 20.8 percent shooting from the field in the opening half, as UWSP jumped out to a 37 point halftime advantage. The Pointers ended up shooting 58.8 percent in the opening half.

Senior Matt Moses (Fond du Lac/St. Mary Springs) started off the second half with two quick jumpers en route to his 14 total points on the day. He also added six assists. Jared Jenkins (Milwaukee/Rufus King) also scored in double figures with 15 and Scott Hoelzel (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) scored 11 while grabbing seven rebounds.

The Pointers out rebounded the Yellowjackets 13-5 on the offensive glass and 46-30 for the game.

The only double digit scorer for the Yellowjackets was Ben Aalfs with 10.

The Pointers (18-2, 9-2 WIAC) will return to action Wednesday, February 3rd as they travel to UW-Stout with action starting at 7 p.m.
