STEVENS POINT - Senior Michelle Sosnowski (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield Central) (Plainfield, Ill.) started out senior day for the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team in style, scoring the game's opening goal and what proved to be the game winner 10:07 into the first period Saturday afternoon as the Pointers defeated UW-Superior 2-0.

Seniors Rachel Graves (Bemidji, Minn.) and Nicole Grossmann (Lindstrom, MN/Chisago Lakes) (Lindstrom, Minn.) also chipped in on the action Saturday, as both added assists to the Pointers victory.

In the second, Dana Carothers (Burnsville, MN/Burnsville) (Burnsville, Minn.) tallied UWSP's second goal of the day at the 12:38 mark of the second period on the power play as UWSP pulled away to secure the victory over the Yellowjackets.

d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) (Swartz Creek, Mich.) tallied 22 saves on the evening to secure her third shutout of the season.

The win improves the Pointers to 11-4-5 overall, 8-4-3 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play while the loss drops Superior to 12-7-2 overall, 8-4-2 in NCHA play. The Pointers also move back ahead of the Yellowjackets in the league standings, boasting a three point lead heading into the final weeks of the season.
