Box Score
SUPERIOR - UW-Stevens Point jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the third-ranked UW-Superior on Saturday evening but five second period goals by the host Yellowjackts was too much for the Pointers to overcome as Superior skated past the Pointers 6-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) men's hockey action.
Jon Madden (Brighton, MI/Howell) (Brighton, Mich.) scored 14 seconds in for the Pointers off a
Nic Polaski (Delafield/Wasson) (Delafield) pass as the Pointers hoped to carry over their winning ways after a 4-1 victory the night before against second-ranked St. Scholastica.
But, the Pointers good fortune ran out in the second, as UW-Superior's Ryan Kuntz began the scoring parade for the Yellowjackts as they scored five goals in the second to jump ahead 5-1 after two periods.
In the third, Logan Isley tallied his third goal of the night for the Yellowjackts and Talon Berlando added his fourth assist to cap the scoring and coast to the 6-1 victory.
Thomas Spear (Janesville) tallied 37 saves in goal for UWSP on the night while Superior's Chad Beiswenger stopped all but one of the Pointers 20 shots on net for the evening to secure the victory.
UW-Stevens Point (14-8-3, 5-7-1 NCHA) plays host to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday, Feb. 14 for their final regular-season game of the season. Designated Senior Night, the puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
