STEVENS POINT - For the second time this season the UW-Stevens Point and Gustavus Adolphus women's hockey teams skated to a tie after 65 minutes of play.
In their meeting earlier this season, both teams tallied two goals in the 2-2 tie. On Tuesday, the Pointers tallied 17 shots on goal while Gustavus tallied 24, but both goaltenders turned away the opposition's attempts at a goal to secure the 0-0 tie.
Neither team was able to get their offense clicking on the evening. The tenth-ranked Pointers were unable to convert on four power play opportunities while the nation's top-ranked Gusties were 0-2 on the power play.
Gustavus extends the nation's longest unbeaten streak, going 22 games without a loss.
d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) (Swartz Creek, Mich.) recorded her fifth shutout of the season while Gustavus netminder Danielle Justice records her fourth.
The Pointers (10-3-6) close out the regular season this weekend, Feb. 21-22 when they travel to Adrian, Michigan for a series with the Bulldogs.
