STEVENS POINT - Dana Carothers (Burnsville, MN/Burnsville) (Burnsville, Minn.) notched two second period goals on top of the Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) (Shoreview, Minn.) goal in the first as the Pointer women's hockey team defeated Lake Forest 3-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action Saturday night at Ice Hawks Arena.

Marvin put the Pointers on the board at the 14:30 mark in the first, scoring unassisted to give UWSP the 1-0 lead after one.

In the second, Carothers added her 10th and 11th goals of the season, pulling ahead of Marvin for the team lead and giving the Pointers all the scoring they would need.

In the third, d'Andra Phillips (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) (Swartz Creek, Mich.) tallied five of her 16 saves to keep the Foresters from scoring, notching the third UWSP shut-out of the season.

The Pointers (7-1-2, 6-1-1 NCHA) return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 13 when they face Golden Gusties of Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn. at 7 p.m.
