Pointers and Pipers Skate to 0-0 Tie

Box Score

ST. PAUL, Minn. (January 10, 2009) – After an intense and physical 65 minutes of play, the UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team skated a scoreless tie against Hamline University in Saint Paul.

Overtime found the two teams skating frantically in search of a goal, and saw the Hamline penalty kill unit hold off a two-minute Pointer attack to preserve the tie.

Hamline goalie Beau Christian (Fy., Moorhead, Minn.) made 25 saves, while the Pointers' Marcus Paulson (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) made 18 in goal.

With the non-conference tie, the Pipers will return to MIAC play next weekend with a 9-3-1, 4-0-0 MIAC record, while UW-Stevens Point is now 11-5-1, 2-4-0 NCHA.

The 0-0 tie is the first since the 1994-95 season for the Pointers.

UW-Stevens Point next takes to the ice on Jan. 17 in an NCHA match-up with UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
