HANOVER, Ind. – UW-Stevens Point opened the 2008 season with a second place finish at the 2008 Madison Kiwanis Cross County Invitational at Hanover College in Indiana. The annual races were held Saturday, Sept. 6, at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex.

The Pointers' freshman Claire Roberts (Oakfield/Horace Mann) led the way, finishing fourth with a time of 19:54.33 in the 5k race, while Kelly Haen (Kaukauna, WI/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) and Allison Wolter (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) finished seventh and eighth respectively.

Also adding to the team score for the Pointers was Sandy Hause (Bruce/Bruce) (Bruce), who finished 19th and Ashley Woest (Abrams/Pulaski) (Abrams/Pulaski), who finished 22nd.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action next weekend when they host the UW-Stevens Point Alumni Open at Iverson Park.
