WHITEWATER – The No. 2 doubles tandem of Kaylei Sorenson (Plover/SPASH) and Emily Oxton (Manitowoc/Lincoln) (Manitowoc/Lincoln) finished in fifth place, winning the consolation championship, helping lead the Pointers to a fifth place finish out of eight teams at the 2008 UW-Whitewater Women's Warhawk Invitational tournament on Saturday afternoon.

After dropping their first match 6-3, 6-2 to UWW, the Pointers defeated Wisconsin Lutheran 6-1, 6-0 and UW-Eau Claire 7-5, 6-2 to claim the consolation victory.

Elsewhere for the Pointers, Rachel Benn (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Stevens Point/SPASH) finished third in the No. 1 singles flight, Chelsea Allbaugh (Bettendorf, IA/Pleasant Valley) (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) finished third in the No. 2 singles flight and the doubles tandem of Lauren Kluz (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) (Sheboygan Falls) and Cate Donze (Brookfield/Brookfield East) (Brookfield/East) finished fifth in the No. 3 doubles flight.

The Pointers will next face Lawrence University on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the SentyWorld Sports Complex in Stevens Point. This will be the first home match of the season for the Pointers. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m.
