AURORA, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team finished their weekend 1-3 at the Jim Coleman Volleyball tournament at Aurora University. The Points victory came on Saturday, as they defeated Beloit 3-0.
On the tournament's first day, the Pointers faced North Central College, giving the Cardinals all they could handle. UWSP jumped out to an early two games to none advantage, but North Central fought back, taking the game to a decisive fifth set. In the fifth set, it took extra points, but the Cardinals came out on top, 18-16, taking the match.
In UWSP's second match the Pointers were handed a 3-0 loss at the hands of Webster (25-23, 25-15, 25-18).
On day two, the Pointers notched their first victory, defeating Beloit 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17). In the tournament's final match, the Pointers again came out on the losing end, falling to Manchester 25-18, 25-21, 25-23.
Freshman
Jennifer Rueter (Burlington/Burlington) (Burlington) was named to the all-tournament team for her performance during the tournament. The losses drop UWSP to 2-5 on the season.
The Pointers will next host Carroll University and Edgewood College on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Berg Gym in matches starting at 5 and 7 p.m.
