WHEATON - Leah Larson (Mincoqua, WI/Lakeland) (Minocqua) scored her first goal of 2008, but it was not enough as No. 10 UW-Stevens Point fell to two-time defending National Champion and No. 15 ranked Wheaton 3-1 in non-conference soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The win by the Thunder snaps the Pointers seven-game winning streak, dating back to Aug. 30.

After a scoreless first half, Larson put the Pointers on the board first, scoring in the 59th minute off a Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) pass and gave UWSP the early 1-0 advantage.

Wheaton answered back 10 minutes later, as Taryne Lee netted a pair of goals within :19, recapturing the lead for the Thunder. Jami Herrmann added one more goal for the Thunder at the 78 minute mark, and that would be all Wheaton needed, as they went on for the 3-1 victory.

Pointer keeper Pam Luckow (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) tallied 12 saves in the game, facing 38 shots. UWSP was credited with just four shots.

UWSP returns home to face UW-La Crosse on Wednesday, Oct. 1 in a 4 p.m. match-up at the Point Soccer Bowl.
