BELOIT – UW-Stevens Point women's tennis got back on track Wednesday afternoon, as the Pointers swept all three doubles matches and four of six singles matches on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Buccaneers.
Rachel Benn (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Stevens Point/SPASH) and
Chelsea Allbaugh (Bettendorf, IA/Pleasant Valley) (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles (8-2) and then went on to collect singles victories at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Benn's victory over Hannah Perwin (Miami, Fla.) avenges two losses she suffered to the Buccaneer last season.
Kaitlyn King (Plover/Stevens Point Pacelli) (Plover/Pacelli) and
Emily Oxton (Manitowoc/Lincoln) (Manitowoc/Lincoln) were also double winners on the day, teaming up for a No. 2 doubles victory and winning at No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Emily Riordan (Appleton/North) (Appleton/North) and
Lauren Kluz (Sheboygan Falls/Sheboygan Falls) (Sheboygan Falls) were also winners of their No. 3 doubles match.
The Pointers (3-1) return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 with a pair of matches against UW-River Falls and Concordia (Wis.) starting at 10 a.m. at SentryWorld Sports Complex in Stevens Point.
