STEVENS POINT – UW-Platteville's Rachel Chapman (Endeavor) had a team-high 15 kills and Ali Sikic (Sugar Grove) led the way with 34 assists as the Pioneers defeated UW-Stevens Point 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) volleyball opener for both teams.
After dropping the first set 25-21, the Pointers came back, jumping out to a 19-15 lead and went on to win 25-18. Platteville was not deterred, winning set three 25-22. The Pointers rallied from a 21-11 deficit to tie the fourth set at 24, but the Pioneers were able to get a side-out and then score the final point of the match for the victory.

Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn./) (Forest Lake, Minn.) led the way with 17 kills on 42 attempts (.333) and
Jennifer Rueter (Burlington/Burlington) (Burlington) added 14.
Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) (Lake Geneva) had 38 assists and
Amanda Mix (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield/East) had 20 digs.
For UW-Platteville, Casse Simms (Waunakee) had five service aces while Lisa Bell (Dyersville, Iowa), Stephanie Tronnes (Edgerton) and Melissa Hillebrand (Davenport, Iowa) each tallied eight kills in the win.
UW-Stevens Point returns to action next Wednesday, Sept. 24 when they host UW-La Crosse. Platteville hosts UW-Eau Claire on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
