Amanda Prawat (Oregon/Oregon) (Oregon) tallied a hat-trick, scoring three goals and added an assist and
Vicki Bieschke (Oconomowoc/Waukesha Memorial) (Oconomowoc) added two goals and two assists of her own as the Pointers defeated UW-Stout 6-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Prawat put the UWSP on the board early, connecting on a Bieschke cross and finding the back of the net just 12:09 into the contest. The combo of Prawat and Bieschke connected for the Pointers next score as well, this time at 34:06 when
Kaylee Weise (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) joined the mix, feeding Prawat for the score and giving the Pointers the 2-0 lead.
Prawat added her third goal to complete the hat-trick just minutes into the second half, scoring unassisted to give the Pointers the 3-0 advantage. Weise was next to score for the Pointers as Prawat returned the favor, feeding her on a ball that Weise put past Stout keeper Taylor Randle, putting the Pointers ahead 4-0.
Not to be left out, Bieschke tallied two goals of her own, one from
Emily Walsh (Waunakee/Waunakee) (Waunakee) and one from Weise to give the Pointers the 6-0 victory.
Pam Luckow (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (Kaukauna) tallied for saves in goal for the Pointers while Taylor Randle (Shoreview, Minn.) tallied 13 in net for Stout, facing 34 shots from UWSP. The Pointers outshot the Blue Devils 34-6.
UWSP (5-1, 1-0 WIAC) next host the University of Chicago on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. at the Pointer Soccer Bowl in Stevens Point. UW-Stout (1-4-1, 0-1 WIAC) will host UW-River Falls on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Menomonie.
