MENOMONIE - The UW-Stevens Point volleyball team posted a 2-2 record on the weekend, notching a pair of wins against Dakota State and the University of Minnesota, Morris while falling to Northwestern and Luther at the UW-Stout volleyball tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Pointers opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Dakota State, led by
Jennifer Rueter (Burlington/Burlington) (Burlington), who tallied 14 kills in 32 attempts for UWSP en route to the victory.
Amanda Mix (Brookfield/East) (Brookfield) added 13 digs in the victory while Pamela Nora (Forest Lake, Minn.) added six kills and 11 digs.
Against Northwestern, the Pointers recorded just 27 kills in their three sets, as Rueter again led the way, notching eight and
Michaela Rheineck (St. Paul, MN/Mounds View) (St. Paul, Minn.) added six in the Pointers 3-0 loss.
Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) (Lake Geneva) added 19 assists and Mix tallied 15 digs in the loss.
On the tournament's second day, the Pointers opened with a 3-2 loss to Luther College, a match in which the Pointer battled back from two games down to force a game five, but ultimately fell 15-5, suffering defeat.
Against Morris, Rueter again led the way as she tallied 10 kills and
Jasmine Johnson (Appleton/East) (Appleton) added six in the Pointer victory.
Mandy Meyer (Eagle River/Northland Pines) (Eagle River) tallied a team-high 18 assists and 13 digs in the 3-1 win.
UWSP (6-7) return home to face UW-Platteville on Wednesday, Sept. 17 in their WIAC opener. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
