Pointers Lose Early Lead; Fall 4-2 to No. 23 Trinity (Tex.)

Box Score SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University women, ranked No. 23 in the NCAA Division III, rallied from an 0-2 halftime deficit to beat the No. 20 Wisconsin-Stevens Point Pointers 4-2 Friday night in the Tigers' season opener,

Tiger senior defender Robyn Brooks of Salt Lake City (East), gave Trinity the go-ahead goal with a 50-yarder with 19:15 left in the second half.

First-year forward Kelly Watts of Lakewood, Wash. (Bellarmine Preparatory), scored two goals for the Tigers in the second half. Junior midfielder Michelle Grambeau of Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer), accounted for one goal and two assists.

UW-Stevens Point scoring was provided by Jackie Spees (Wisconsin Rapids/Lincoln) (So., Wisconsin Rapids/Lincoln) and Mary Jean Cornelius (West Bend/West) (So., West Bend/West).  Senior Pam Lucklow (Kaukauna) recorded seven saves for the Pointers in the loss.

The Tigers host Wisconsin-Eau Claire Saturday at 7 p.m. Eau Claire tied Hardin-Simmons 1-1 in a double-overtime game played at Trinity.
