MOOREHEAD, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point volleyball team opened the 2008 season on Friday afternoon, dropping the opening match of the Concordia (Minn.) Quad to the host Cobbers 3-0.

Concordia is ranked No. 16 in the American Volleyball Coaches Assocaiton (AVCA) preseason national poll.

The Pointers fell 25-8, 25-18, 25-13 to the No. 16 ranked Cobbers.  Michaela Rheineck (St. Paul, MN/Mounds View) (Fr., St. Paul, Minn.)led the way for the Pointers, registering four kills while Jasmine Johnson (Appleton/East) (So., Appleton) and Pam Nora (Forest Lake, Minn./) (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.) each registered three kills. Chantel York (Lake Geneva/Badger) (Fr., Lake Geneva) posted 11 assists and also had 10 digs for UWSP.

The Pointers face Rockey Mountain and Presentation in the final two matches of the Quad later Friday afternoon.
