Pointers Compete at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 17-ranked UW-Stevens Point Men's Track and Field team competed at the Dr. Keeler Track and Field Invitational hosted by North Central College today.

The Pointers' 4x400-meter relay team was the lone winner for Stevens Point as they won in a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 3:13.20 seconds, which is the fastest time in Division III this season.

A bunch of Pointers placed third in events today. Ernest Edmond (Southfield, MI/Southfield Lathrup) (Fr.-Southfield, MI/Southfield Lathrup) was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 seconds. Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) (Sr.-Howards Grove) was third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.18 seconds. Pat Leonard (Sr.-Chicago, IL/Brother Rice) was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.56 seconds. Also third was Greg Haak (Belleville/Belleville) (Sr.-Belleville) in the 800-meters with a time of 1:53.24 seconds.

Cory Baumann (Marathon/Marathon) (Sr.-Marathon) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a provisional qualifying time of 9:13.45 seconds. Also fourth was Cody White (Madison/La Follette) (So-Madison/LaFollette) in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 42'-11.75”.

The Pointers will be back at North Central next Friday for the Last Chance Meet.
