1600-Meter Relay Team Qualifies for Finals

OSHKOSH – The UW-Stevens Point women's 4x400-meter relay team qualified for Saturday's finals today at the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The 1600-meter relay team of Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette), Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) (So.-Jefferson), Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port), and Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) (Jr.-Rosholt) ran a season-best time of 3:48.64 seconds to qualify for the finals on Saturday.

Other Pointers competing today were the 4x100-meter relay team that did not qualify for the finals after posting a time of 48.01 seconds. Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) also took part in the 200-meter dash, but failed to make the finals after running a season-best time of 25.03 seconds.

Action resumes tomorrow at 1 p.m. at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. Liz Caine will take part in the 100-meter dash trials tomorrow.
