Caine Strong on Rainy Day One of WIAC Championships

EAU CLAIRE – Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) ran the fastest time in the 100-meter dash and had the second fastest time on the 200-meter dash as the UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team sits in seventh after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Simpson Field in Eau Claire.

Liz Caine, who won the 100-meter championship last year, ran a time of 12.37 seconds in the preliminaries today for the fastest time of the day. In the 200-meter prelims, Caine posted her fastest time of the season and a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 25.05 seconds.

Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) (So.-Jefferson) was the third fastest in the 400-meter prelims with a time of 57.67 seconds, her fastest time of the season. Allison Wolter (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (So.-Kaukauna) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as she finished in a time of 11:44.74 seconds, her fastest time of the year.

The Pointers are in seventh, collecting 11 points today. UW-Oshkosh holds a slim lead on the pack with 67.50 points. UW-La Crosse is in second with 67 points. UW-Eau Claire is third with 50.50 points.

Day two of the 37th annual WIAO Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
