Day One Results
EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team is in fourth place with 17.50 points after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Simpson Field in Eau Claire.
Last year's decathlon champion, Kyle Steiner (Grafton/Grafton) (Sr.-Grafton), is in first place after five events with 3,536 points. Steiner won the high jump and 400-meter dash today.
Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) (Fr.-Milwaukee/Riverside University) ran the fastest time in the 200-meter preliminaries with a season-best 21.87 seconds. Ingram also had the third-fastest time in the 100-meter prelims at 10.96 seconds. Pat Leonard (Sr.-Chicago, IL/Brother Rice) ran a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time in the 400-meter prelims at 48.31 seconds.
Greg Haak (Belleville/Belleville) (Sr.-Belleville) was third in the 800-meter prelims with a time of 1:54.01 seconds. Kris Riggs (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 15.47 seconds. Cory Baumann (Marathon/Marathon) (Sr.-Marathon) was also fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a season-best time of 9:26.98 seconds.
In field events, Daniel Swan (Green Bay/Green Bay Preble) (Sr.-Green Bay/Preble) placed third in the pole vault, clearing a season-best 15'-1”. Jerry Prusinski (Rib Lake/Rib Lake) (So.-Rib Lake) was sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 169'-11”.
UW-Oshkosh is in first with 30 points and UW-Whitewater is in second with 26 points. In third is UW-La Crosse with 25 points.
Day two of the 90th annual WIAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships begins at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
