NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The 11th-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team took part in the Gregory Invitational Friday night hosted by North Central College.
Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) (Sr.-Howards Grove) ran his fastest time of the season in the 200-meter dash at 21.63 seconds, a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time. Greg Haak (Belleville/Belleville) (Sr.-Belleville) also ran his fastest time of the season in the 800-meter run with a provisional qualifying time of 1:51.58 seconds. Phil Richert (Andover, MN/Andover) (Jr.-Hewitt/Marshfield) also met a provisional qualifying time in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:47.54 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay team ran a provisional qualifying time of 41.19 seconds, the sixth fastest in Division III this season.
Several Pointers competed at the UW-La Crosse NCAA Qualifier on Thursday night. Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) ran his fastest time of the season in the 400-meter dash as he met a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time at 48.36 seconds.
The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin next Thursday in Oshkosh at noon.
