WAVERLY, Iowa – The UW-Stevens Point golf team went out early today and shot a 330 (+42) in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships to remain in 13th place with a total score of 666 (+90) at Centennial Oaks Golf Club.
Four of the five Pointers had a better second round than the first round as they were six strokes better on day two. Jessica Urban (Hartland/Arrowhead) (So.-Hartland/Arrowhead), who was tied for fifth individually to begin the day, posted a score of 76 (+2) today to be at +6 overall and move up to fourth place all by herself. Urban had three birdies on the day and she is just four shots back of leader Susan Martin of Methodist University. Michelle Pascavis (Waukesha/South) (Fr.-Waukesha/South) shot a 78 (+6) today and is +21 overall tied for 47th place. Sarah Mosher (Evansville/Evansville) (Sr.-Evansville) is in 81st place after a second round score of 89 (+17).
Amanda Dlugopolski (Appleton/East) (Jr.-Appleton/East) also shot an 89 (+17) today and is in 98th place. Katie Kautz (Des Plaines, Ill./St. Viator) (Sr.-Des Plaines, IL/St. Viator) posted a score of 91 (+19) today and is in a tie for 100th place.
Methodist University remains in first place after day two, lengthening its lead over Southwestern University to 13 strokes. Just four strokes separate third place DePauw University and fifth place University of St. Thomas. Sandwiched in between them is Otterbein College in fourth place.
The 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships continue tomorrow with third round action beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Pointers will start out on the back nine tomorrow starting at 8:20 a.m.
