OSHKOSH – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team placed fifth out of 14 teams today with 84 points at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
The host, UW-Oshkosh, won the invite with 219.5 points. UW-Eau Claire was second with 161.66 points and Winona State was third with 114 points. Finishing fourth was UW-Whitewater with 94.5 points.
Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.14 seconds. Caine ran a NCAA provisional qualifying time and broke a school record in the preliminaries with a time of 12.21 seconds. Caine, along with Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port), Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) (Jr.-Rosholt), and Ann Burhop (Hartford/Martin Luther) (Jr.-Hartford/Martin Luther) won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 49.51 seconds. Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) was second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.75 seconds.
Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson/Jefferson) (So.-Jefferson) was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.30 seconds. Also finishing third was Allison Wolter (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (So.-Kaukauna) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, posting a time of 12:21.10 seconds.
In field events, Angela Sheridan (Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) (Jr.-Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) finished second in the shot put, throwing a distance of 40'-9.5”.
The Pointers will participate at the Blugold Invitational next Saturday in Eau Claire. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
