OSHKOSH – The UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team had 110 points to finish fifth out of 13 teams today at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
UW-Oshkosh won the meet with 174.5 points. UW-La Crosse was second with 149.5 points. UW-Whitewater was third with 143.5 points and UW-Eau Claire was fourth with 123.5 points.
Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) (Sr.-Howards Grove) won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.14 seconds. Patrick Leonard (Chicago, IL./Brother Rice) (Sr.-Chicago, IL/Brother Rice) was second in that event with a time of 49.18 seconds. The Pointers' 4x100-meter relay team was also victorious with a time of 42.53 seconds. Stevens Point also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.90 seconds. Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) (Fr.-Milwaukee/Riverside University) was second in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 11.55 seconds.
Chris Petrie (So.-Glenbeulah/Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah) finished third in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 43'-0.25”. Derek Stone (Belvidere, IL/Belvidere) (Fr.-Belvidere, IL) was fourth in the high jump, clearing 6'-3.5”.
The Pointers will compete at the UW-Platteville Open next Saturday. Events begin at 11 a.m.
