STEVENS POINT – The 15th-ranked UW-Stevens Point men's track and field team finished up at the Drake Relays where it competed Friday and Saturday and also had part of its team compete at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational today.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Pat Leonard (Sr.-Chicago, IL/Brother Rice), Josh Schwinn (Fr.-Howards Grove), Brad Koback (Amherst/Amherst) (Jr.-Amherst), and Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove) (Sr.-Howards Grove) ran a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:16.84 seconds in the preliminaries for its fastest time of the season. The 4x800-meter relay team of Greg Haak (Belleville/Belleville) (Sr.-Belleville), Adam Steinke (Hewitt/Marshfield) (Jr.-Hewitt/Marshfield), Derek Nechuta (Mosinee/Mosinee) (Fr.-Mosinee), and Adam Lang (Sheboygan/Sheboygan Lutheran) (So.-Sheboygan/Lutheran) finished fourth in a time of 7:44.38 seconds. Finishing sixth was the 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Brad Koback (Amherst/Amherst), Pat Leonard, Nicholas Ver Duin (Howards Grove/Howards Grove), and Keith Ingram (Milwaukee, WI/Riverside) (Fr.-Milwaukee/Riverside University) finished sixth with a time of 42.71 seconds.

Jerry Prusinsky (So.-Rib Lake) was victorious today at the UW-Oshkosh Invite, winning the hammer throw with a distance of 172'-10”. Nick Berndt (Grafton/Grafton) (Sr.-Grafton) finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:16.80 seconds. Finishing third was Adam Duckart (Denmark/Denmark) (So.-Denmark) in the 1,500 meters, Eric Neville (Green Bay/Southwest) (Sr.-Green Bay/Southwest) in the 400-meter hurdles, and Derek Stone (Belvidere, IL/Belvidere) (Fr.-Belvidere, IL) in the high jump. The Pointers were sixth out of eight teams at the invite.

The Pointers will take part in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships next Friday and Saturday in Eau Claire. Events begin at noon on Friday.
