LA CROSSE – The UW-Stevens Point women's track and field team finished sixth today with 46.75 points at the Phil Esten Challenge hosted by UW-La Crosse.
UW-La Crosse won the event with 198.50 points. UW-Eau Claire was second with 180.75 points and Winona State was third with 96 points. UW-Stout was fourth with 51 points and UW-River Falls rounded out the top five with 47 points.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Andrea Irvine (Green Bay/Bay Port) (Sr.-Green Bay/Bay Port), Laura Simonis (Rosholt/Rosholt) (Jr.-Rosholt), Angela Steffens (Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette) (Sr.-Cottage Grove/Madison LaFollette), and Liz Caine (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) was the only winner on the day with a time of 4:04.24 seconds. Caine finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.04 seconds.
Allison Wolter (Kaukauna/Kaukauna) (So.-Kaukauna) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing in a time of 11:57.07 seconds. Hannah Dieringer (Spencer/Spencer) (Sr.-Spencer) was fifth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:01.76 seconds.
In field events, Alix Jicinsky (Stratford/Stratford) (Fr.-Stratford) tied for second in the high jump, clearing a height of 4'-9.75”. Angela Sheridan (Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) (Jr.-Dubuque, IA/Wahlert) was fourth in the shot put, throwing a distance of 38'-3.5”.
The Pointers will be in action Thursday thru Saturday when they compete at the Drake Relays in Iowa.
